Cardiology (CABG, valve replacement) Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital — strong, USD 18–28K all-in Singapore is the better choice for complex cardiac cases. Bangkok is competent and 40–50% cheaper for routine cases. Mount Elizabeth, Gleneagles — top-tier outcomes, USD 35–55K all-in
IVF Jetanin and Superior A.R.T. — strong, USD 8–12K per cycle Bangkok wins on price-to-success-rate. Singapore wins only if you need genetic testing protocols restricted in Thailand. Thomson Fertility and KKIVF — USD 15–22K per cycle
Dental (full-arch implant) BIDC and Bangkok International Dental — USD 12–18K full arch Bangkok is the global price leader on dental and quality is on par with Singapore for restorative work. Singapore private — USD 30–45K full arch
Aesthetic surgery (rhinoplasty, facelift) Yanhee, Kamol, Asia Cosmetic — high volume, USD 4–9K per procedure Bangkok dominates aesthetic medical tourism. Singapore is rarely the value choice here. Boutique private clinics — USD 12–25K per procedure
Executive checkup (full panel + imaging) Bumrungrad executive program — USD 1,200–2,400, same-day results Bangkok wins on price; Singapore wins on the quality of the post-checkup consult and follow-up plan. Raffles, Mount Elizabeth — USD 2,800–4,500, deeper interpretation
JCI-accredited hospital density 7 JCI hospitals in Bangkok proper Bangkok has more options; Singapore is easier to evaluate because the ecosystem is smaller and more uniform. 4 JCI hospitals (smaller geographic footprint, easier to compare)
English fluency in care teams Excellent at Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital; variable at others Singapore is the safer bet if you do not have a fixer or interpreter. Native-level across all major hospitals
Average savings vs US (same procedure, comparable quality) 60–75% lower than US private prices Bangkok is the value play. Singapore is the safety-and-precision play. 30–45% lower than US private prices
Recovery comfort (hotel + meal infrastructure near hospital) Bumrungrad has built a small recovery hotel district around it; very easy Both excellent. Bangkok is more medical-village; Singapore is more urban-integrated. Mount Elizabeth Orchard sits in the city — easy walk to retail and dining
Geographic accessibility from US/UK/EU 1 stop from any major Western hub Singapore is meaningfully easier to reach, especially for older patients who should not change planes. Direct flights from London, NYC, LA, SFO; one of Asia’s easiest cities to reach

Our take

Bangkok and Singapore sit at the top of Asia’s medical-tourism market for very different reasons. Bangkok is the volume and value capital — strong on dental, aesthetics, IVF, and routine procedures. Singapore is the precision and complexity capital — the right choice when the procedure is cardiac, oncological, or genuinely complicated.

The split is rarely about quality at the top tier. It is about which kind of care you need, how much complexity is in the case, and how much you are willing to pay for the marginal precision.
